Books: Three of my favorites

Seeing as the season is well under way in places like Whistler and Colorado, I figured I would share a few of my favorite books. I travel with these books all year long and constantly go back to them throughout the season and off season. It's important to stay on top of it!! Here are my suggestions...



This book is a great reference for classes like the wilderness advanced first aid course. If you ever have to rescue someone from an avalanche, they are most likely going to need some first aid. This knowledge is super helpful in many different situations. It's a good feeling when you know what to do when someone gets hurt. Beyond this book, if you're going to be out in the backcountry you should take a class and practice scenarios.



A guide to evaluating snow avalanche hazard. Even if you're just riding at a ski resort, it's important to have the ability to recognize avalanche prone terrain.



A bit of a thicker book, but very informative. More ski and snowboard oriented.

Get out there and enjoy the snow!!! Practice beacon searches!!! Here's a great way to practice: tie a beer to the hidden beacon. If you need another beer you have to go find it. Beacon party. Enjoy the books!
